D’TIGRESS TO FACE KOREA, OTHERS IN WORLD CUP DRAW

D’Tigress of Nigeria that are already through to the finals of the FIBA Women’s World Cup 2026, have been pooled in the same Qualifying Tournaments will France and host Germany a long with Colombia, Philippines and Korea.

D’Tigress will be in Lyon-Villeurbanne, France, Mali will be seeking a ticket to the finals in Wuhan, China with South Sudan, Brazil, Belgium, Czechia and China.Senegal will be heading to San Juan in Puerto Rico to take on New Zealand, almighty USA, Italy, Spain and host Puerto Rico.

The draw for the last phase of the Qualifying Tournaments was conducted on Monday by former French national team captain Endy Miyem and German national team standout player Marie Guelich at the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball in Mies, Switzerland.

The draw which is the last step to reach next year’s showpiece Women’s World Cup has some exciting and edge of the seats pairings.

The Qualifying Tournaments will be held in four host cities from March 11-17.

FIBA Secretary General, Andreas Zagklis was in attendance for the draw ceremony, along with representatives from the participating National Federations.

There are 4 tournaments of 6 teams, where 16 teams will qualify for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026.The host (Germany) and the winners of each Women’s Continental Cup 2025 (Australia, Belgium, Nigeria, and USA) are participating in these Qualifying Tournaments.

However, they receive automatic qualifications for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026.The top three teams from each Qualifying Tournament will qualify for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup, along with a Continental Cup winner.

In the tournament with the host nation, Germany, the top two teams will qualify alongside Germany and a Continental Cup champion.

The draw confirmed the last leg of the journey for the teams still chasing a precious place at the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026 in Berlin, Germany where 16 nations will ultimately compete for the coveted silverware.
